Hi,

Jan 09 - Attended another portrait night at Rivington Galleries, this time with one model, Sophie. Used the 400D with the 135mm f/2.0 lens and the 450D with the 17-85mm IS lens.

Used the same room upstairs however the fluorescent lights were not on, just the modelling lights from 2 Elinchrome studio flashes as ambient light, but also a Portaflash 336 for the background and David’s old (20yrs+) flash as a back/hair light.

So here’s a few of the photos of Sophie, this was only her 2nd time modelling.

Well it should be pretty obvious the 135mm is at work here especially with the photo on the right ‘s depth of field at f/2.0 with focus on Sophie’s hands. This shot on the right involved quite a bit of reduction in power or removal of studio flash to get  the light ‘s brightness down low enough for an f/2.0 exposure.

Followed below, with a near high key effect and then one from the 17-85 lens at 64mm

Hope you like them, Sophie is a very pretty model and there has been no ‘portrait professional’ software tinkering, in fact only on the bottom two is there any sharpening and just minor exposure adjustments where needed.
